Scanning During Pregnancy Queens can now be scanned from 21 days into pregrancy. Occasionally the conceptuses are too small to detect at this stage so the optimum time is around 28 days. It is not possible to give an exact number of kittens but it gives a good indication of whether a pregnancy is present or not. Occasionally the first scan may be inconclusive and a second scan may be required a week later.
